ISLAND HOPPING, IN A TROPICAL PARADISE!
'Welcome home', that's how it felt!
THE BREATHTAKING TOPS OF SMALL TIBET
For almost twenty years we didn't think it was possible, a bike ride just as beautiful as the one on the Karakoram Highway or the Pamir Highway. And suddenly it happened: Inner Ladakh, the breathtaking peaks of Little Tibet, in the Indian Himalayas!

MONGOLIA, MAGIC SPACE AND FREEDOM
Mongolia takes a very special place at Tropical Cyclist: every so many years the magic of the infinite, nomadic space draws us passionately!
Every time we are surprised how each cycling kilometer shows how varied a country, fifty times larger than the Netherlands and only inhabited by fewer than three million inhabitants, can be. Steppes, desert, hills, green wooded mountains and valleys, they provide a continuous variety in panoramas, flora and fauna.

NAMIBIE -> KAAPSTAD
After 100 days Cairo -> Cape Town (2007) and 70 days full southern Africa (2008), the 'Overlanding' form of travel occupies a very special place with us. The use of an overland truck with room for all guests, plus bicycles, luggage, food & drinks and camping equipment, creates an unparalleled nomadic freedom. We cycle the most beautiful parts, we sit at the warmest campfires, we sleep under the fullest starry skies, we feel healthier than ever, can it be more outdoor?
‘SESAME OPEN YOURSELF'
'Sesame open yourself', with that magical password Ali Baba managed to open the treasure room of the forty robbers in the well-known Arabian fairy tale. Great wealth then awaited him, but not without a struggle.
Oman has the slogan 'Beauty has an Address', according to us it could also have been 'Sesame open yourself': what a fairy-tale country!
There we are, on the floor of the guest room of the only house somewhere between Jelandy and Alichur. Who had hoped this when we left for Kirgiz Osh, from Tajik Dushanbe? In any case, it fits perfectly now! The short week from Khorog to Murgab, the heart of the Pamir Highway, is so different from everything in other Tropical Cyclist tours.
Made in Taiwan: superb cycling in the tropics!
'Made in Taiwan', who doesn't know it as a synonym for cheap production from the Far East? In the meanwhile, this has been overtaken by 'Designed in Taiwan' - the country is no.3 worldwide in patent registrations - and what turns out to be beautifully designed? Cycling routes! For the 'island tour' (900 km) alone, the government has spent more than 30 million euros to make cyclists happy.

Cycling the Vuelta 2020 yourself!
On Friday, August 14, 2020, the Vuelta a España will start in our beautiful Utrecht, ending 23 days later and 3,500 kilometers further in sun-drenched Madrid. We will cycle all stages and every kilometer one day before!
We cannot say much about the details of the route, except that the first 3 stages will take place in the Netherlands. After that comes a rest day and we will continue in Spain. The details will only be announced in December or January, but we are there in any case!
'OUT OF AFRICA' ON BOTH SIDES OF THE ZAMBEZI
The Zambezi River forms the natural border between Zimbabwe and Zambia. Both countries each follow a completely different course, but they are similar to each other in terms of landscape and socio-culture. There is a wealth of natural and human wealth on both sides of the river, it is a pleasure to cycle through!
The quiet roads and paths, the huts on the side, the villages and especially: the friendly, hospitable people who give you such a warm welcome. You are really on a journey of discovery here.
